MARGURITA PLAYS THE BLUES
(Ron Randolf)
Late in the evening - there’s always some treat down in San José
And the sweetest of all is the girl - who plays in a certain special
café
She’s there every night - you’ve come to the right place, my friend,
they say
You can’t turn off your heart - when she starts to sing and to play!
She’s still looking fine - despite grey hairs and lines on her dark-skinned
face
Strumming and singing - the gift she is bringing to all in this place
She’s been through the wringer - but come out a winner with no disgrace
Now hold on to your ears - never fear her acoustic embrace
Margurita plays guitar - in a little bar down in San José
She was a flower child - free and wild in her younger days
But when she plays what she’s feeling inside
Everybody who hears her will fly
Margurita plays the blues
Margurita plays the blues
Margurita plays the blues for you
Whatever happens - to dreams of the past that have gone away?
Are they packed up in boxes - and only remembered on special days?
Or do they remain - behind some sad refrain from a quiet tune
Bringing smiles to our faces and tears to our eyes
Remembering lost lovers and friends who have died
Good night, Margurita, sleep well, we’ll be seeing you soon!
Margurita plays guitar - in a little bar down in San José
She was a flower child - free and wild in her younger days
But when she plays what she’s feeling inside
Everybody who hears her can fly
Margurita plays the blues
Margurita plays the blues
Margurita plays the blues for you
